October 17, 2025

Welcome to Belize

At Aruna Resort & Villas, we believe your vacation begins the moment you decide to join us. This Arrival Guide was created to ensure your journey feels as effortless as your stay. Inside, you’ll find everything you need for smooth travel to Ambergris Caye,  from transfer tips and travel essentials to a curated packing list.

Getting to Ambergris Caye

Step 1: International Arrival

You will arrive at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City.

After clearing customs, you’ll have two easy ways to continue:

  • Option A: Domestic Flight (Recommended)
    • Maya Island Air or Tropic Air offer 15-minute flights to San Pedro.
    • Multiple departures daily; baggage allowance varies by aircraft size.
    • Pro Tip: Book an early connection for the smoothest travel.
  • Option B: Water Taxi
    • A scenic 90-minute boat ride from Belize City to San Pedro.
    • Departs several times daily; expect a more casual, adventurous transfer.

Step 2: Arrival in San Pedro

  • Our Aruna boat shuttle will be waiting to whisk you to the resort — just 5 minutes across the water.
  • Advance coordination with our team ensures your transfer is seamless.
  • Our staff is available to assist with domestic flight or water taxi bookings; simply reach out ahead of your trip.

Travel Essentials

  • Entry Requirements: A valid passport with at least 6 months before expiration.
  • Currency: Belize Dollar (BZD), pegged 2:1 with USD. U.S. dollars are widely accepted.
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi available throughout the resort; mobile roaming possible.
  • Health & Safety: No special vaccines required; bottled or filtered water provided at Aruna.
  • Tipping: Customary but optional; most guests leave 10–15% for exceptional service.
